Body Weight Training in Somerville Today…

Hey all, Happy 4th of July. I hope everyone’s plans include some good BBQ-ing and some fireworks. Even in the face of all our problems we still live in the best country in the world!

Today being Friday it’s usually a heavy training day for me but I took the day off and wasn’t really super motivated to go to the gym…but training can be done anywhere with any type of equipment. My equipment was a jump stretch band, JC band, and my own body weight.

Giving your body some different stimulus when you are hitting the weights hard is always a good thing. Instead of taking the day off completely I got a great metabolic workout and it felt great to get the blood flowing in a short amount of time.

Here’s what I did today:
Tuck Jumps (I forgot how much these things SUCK!!)
Body weight squats
Push Ups w/jump stretch band
(around my shoulders for resistance
Speed Rows with JC band
Mountain Climbers
Side Bridges
Supermans
Straight Leg Sit Ups

Each movement was done for 10 reps (10 each side for mt.climbers and side bridges)
4 sets were completed with 1:30 rest between each set
My best time was 2:25

The whole training session took me about 20 minutes including a warm-up. Finished up with a stretch and a protein shake and I’m off to enjoy the rest of my day and long weekend.

Use this formula, mix and match the exercises to fit what you need, and remember that you don’t need fancy equipment or heavy weight ALL the time…be creative and give your body a new set of tasks to conquer!
